Skylark for iPhone tells you a few minutes before a military, rescue or rare aircraft passes near you, with where to look. The same rules pick what goes on this page.
How this list is made
Skylark's island collector records aircraft it receives broadcasting ADS-B over Ireland. Each aircraft is checked against the plane-alert rules: a military operator or type, a rescue helicopter or a spotters' special, or one of a short list of rare types such as the A380, 747, An-124, Beluga and MD-11. Each airframe is listed once a day. Aircraft whose owners asked not to be tracked (PIA and LADD) are never listed, nor are emergencies or medical flights. Times are Irish time; an area is the nearest airport when the aircraft was first seen within 30 nautical miles of one. Coverage has gaps, low over the west and north especially, so a quiet day is not proof nothing flew.
